Sanmar Speciality Chemicals Limited (SSCL) manufactures a wide
range of speciality chemicals, and offers contract research
services, in separate focused divisions. SSCL's areas of
expertise are:
Advanced organic intermediates and phytochemicals
Performance chemicals for the flavours and fragrances,
pharmaceuticals, resins, polymers and elastomers and biocide
industries.
Phytochemicals as therapeutic ingredients.
Wire enamels, varnishes and related chemicals
Wire enamels, impregnating varnishes and related chemicals such
as polyvinyl formal, blocked polyisocyanates, organic titanates,
and phenolic resins.
Contract research
Custom synthesis, analytical services and process research.
Biotechnology
Reagents for genetic engineering, teaching kits for molecular
biology and immunology, biology research and tools for genomic
and proteomic research.
The SSCL businesses
Performance Chemicals: Located at Berigai, near Hosur in Tamil
Nadu, this unit manufactures chemicals for flavours and
fragrances, resins, polymers and elastomers and intermediates
for pharmaceuticals. The business also has expertise in
manufacturing complex phytochemicals which are supplied to
pharmaceutical customers in Europe and the United States of
America.
Intec Polymers: Intec Polymers at Dadra, Gujarat, has numerous
product lines in organic titanates, polyvinyl formal,
polyisocyanates, wire enamels and impregnating varnishes.
ProCitius Research: ProCitius Research, with its
state-of-the-art facilities, offers world class services in
contract research and custom synthesis. It has an impressive
track record with major pharmaceutical and chemical
manufacturers in Europe and the United States of America.
Bangalore Genei: This division manufactures enzymes and related
reagents for genetic engineering research and makes teaching
kits for molecular biology and immunology. It is a market leader
in India.
Research & Development
Each SSCL division has a full fledged Research & Development
(R&D) laboratory with a pilot plant attached to it to carry out
organic synthesis work.
These are staffed by eminent research scientists with excellent
professional records in their chosen fields. The Department of
Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India,
has recognised the R&D laboratories of SSCL.
The R&D teams have successfully worked and implemented various
process upgradation methods, developed viable processes for
several organic chemicals and absorbed the technology in
synthesising phytochemicals in the laboratory and pilot plant as
well as at the plant level.
SSCL has over 100 qualified and experienced R&D professionals
across its various divisions.
Certifications
The Performance & Phytochemicals-Berigai and Intec units are
certified to both ISO 9001 for the Quality Management System and
ISO 14000 for the Environmental Management System. Bangalore
Genei is certified to ISO 9002 for the Quality Management
System. The Phytochemical facility at Berigai is certified to
cGMP.
